Question 1

Is Wortify free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The free plan gives you 20 word reviews per day, spaced repetition and every course in the community marketplace, with no credit card required. Paid plans start at €5/month and add unlimited daily reviews, Coffee Break sessions, the Reflex Trainer and AI-generated courses.

Question 2

Do I need prior German knowledge to start?

Accepted Answer

No. Wortify works for every level from A1 to C2. When you build a course you choose your level and the AI drafts vocabulary to match: beginners start with essentials like "Hallo" and "Danke", advanced learners can work on specialised terms like "Schnittstellendokumentation".

Question 3

How is Wortify different from Duolingo?

Accepted Answer

Duolingo is a general-purpose language course with a guided path and game-style rewards. Wortify is a vocabulary tool built around your own goal: you describe it (a tech job, dating in Berlin, medical German…) and AI drafts a course for it, which you practise with active recall and spaced repetition (SM-2) instead of streaks and points. Many learners combine the two: a general course for the foundations, Wortify for the words they specifically need. Duolingo is a trademark of Duolingo, Inc.; Wortify is not affiliated with it.

Question 4

What's the difference between Blitz Mode and Deep Focus?

Accepted Answer

Blitz Mode is fast flashcard review: you see a German word, recall the meaning, then rate yourself (Again / Hard / Good / Easy). Deep Focus mixes exercise types: Fill-in-the-Blank, Audio Transcription, Sentence Builder, Pronunciation Challenge and the Reflex Trainer for der/die/das. Coffee Break is a short session format (5, 10 or 15 minutes) for studying on the go.

Question 5

Can I create a course about my niche job (e.g. 'Chemical Process Engineering')?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On a paid plan, describe your job title and industry and the AI drafts a vocabulary course for it, with example sentences. Examples: medical (ER nursing, radiology), tech (DevOps), finance (trading, compliance), engineering (automotive, chemical). AI-generated content can contain mistakes, so double-check unusual terms with a trusted source. Unlimited Learner includes one AI-generated course per month; Creator Pro includes unlimited AI-generated courses.

Question 6

How many cards can a course have?

Accepted Answer

An AI-generated course holds up to 200 cards. That keeps each course focused enough to finish and keep reviewing. If your niche is bigger, create several courses.

Question 7

What if I don't learn 100 words in 14 days?

Accepted Answer

Paid plans come with a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you don't learn at least 100 new German words in your first 14 days on a paid plan, email support@wortify.cc and we will refund your first payment. The full conditions are in our Terms of Service.

Question 8

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

You can cancel at any time in your account settings, and paid features stay available until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. After that your account moves to the free plan (20 word reviews per day). Your progress and courses stay in your account, so you can resubscribe later and pick up where you left off. If you would rather have your data deleted, email support@wortify.cc.

Question 9

Is there a mobile app (iOS/Android)?

Accepted Answer

Wortify is a progressive web app: it runs in your phone's browser (Safari, Chrome) and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. There are no native iOS or Android apps at the moment.

Question 10

Can Wortify help me prepare for the Goethe-Zertifikat?

Accepted Answer

You can build a course around the vocabulary themes of the Goethe-Zertifikat level you are preparing for (B1, B2 or C1). Wortify trains vocabulary: it includes a pronunciation exercise, but it has no full speaking or essay-writing practice and it is not an official exam-preparation course, so use it alongside practice tests and speaking practice.

Question 11

Can I use Wortify for Swiss German or Austrian German?

Accepted Answer

Not at the moment. Wortify currently focuses on Standard German (Hochdeutsch). Swiss and Austrian varieties have their own vocabulary, which we may add based on demand.
